Our first homeschool year, Sunday night was worksheet night: two hours with a ruler drawing dotted letters, and my youngest carefully traced my wobbles. Writing Fun is an alphabet tracing font drawn to look bold and a little funny, made for worksheets at home, in kindergarten or in class. My five-year-old wanted to trace it, which in our house is the whole battle.

Kinder School is a bold, bouncy display font for school projects, posters and classroom decorations. I use it for the big labels on our shelves: "Books", "Art", "Math".
Big Alphabet Tracing is a friendly tracing font made to help kids learn the alphabet in a playful way. The letters are big, which is what small hands need at the start.
Tracing Fun comes in three styles: regular, outline dotted with arrows, and dotted with arrows. It also includes an Animal Alphabet Doodle bonus, which made a very good "A is for alligator" week.
Cursive Handwriting Alphabet Tracing Set is a tracing font for early cursive. The description suggests printable cursive worksheets, alphabet centers and DIY tracing books. This is where my oldest started joining letters.
Bold Crayon is a chunky display font with a textured, wax-crayon look. Our weekly chart on the fridge is in this font, and the kids think I colored every letter by hand.
Bn101 Dotted Tracing is a clean dotted font with uppercase, lowercase, numbers 0–9 and punctuation. Nothing fancy, which makes it my default for copying sentences.
Tracing Box puts letters in squares to help kids remember how words are spelled, with a regular and a spaced style. We use it for the weekly spelling list, one box per letter.
Cute Shape is a kids display font with thick, rounded letters. Our name cards are in this one, because my youngest can find her own name on the table without asking.
Quick aside. The fonts handle the letters, but my worksheets always needed a picture I could never find: our dog holding a pencil, or the three kids as little cartoon explorers for the top of a nature page. Abc Pro Tracing Dot is a dotted font for kids and beginners. It suits an older child who needs a fresh start with neat letters, too.
Abcd Display is a bold, bouncy kids education font with clean outlines. It is the one I would pick for a "Welcome to our homeschool" sign on the door.
Alphabet Tracing is a basic tracing font with clear letters for kindergarten and elementary worksheets. It is the free file I would take if you only need one, because it does the job for every age.
Kids Cursive Dotted is a dashed font made for letter tracing worksheets for preschoolers. If you teach cursive early, this one lets the little ones join in with the big ones.
Children School Font is a script with a touch of elegance for DIY projects. I use it for the end-of-term certificates, where a little flourish makes the moment feel official.
Tracing Roads is a tracing font where a little car marks the starting point of each letter. For my car-obsessed middle child, this turned tracing into driving.
Dotted Handwriting is a simple dotted display font with a strong look. I use it for worksheet titles, so the kids trace the name of the lesson before they start.
Cute Crayon is a hand-drawn kids font with a waxy crayon texture, a little lighter than Bold Crayon. It is lovely for birthday cards the kids make for grandparents.
Abcd Cursive is a fully connected cursive font based on the D'Nealian method, with joined, outlined, dotted, arrow, lined and unlined styles. Every style has uppercase, lowercase and numbers 0–9. If your oldest is ready to write whole cursive sentences, this is the set.
School is a whimsical handcrafted font suggested for cards, planners, graduations and learning materials. It is on the cover of our homeschool planner this year.
Alphabet Adventure is a bold, bubbly kids font, and the description says it is optimized for Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio. We cut our first-day-of-school shirts and name labels with it.
My order, if you are starting from zero: one first-letters font with arrows, one plain dotted font, one cursive tracing font for the oldest, then one cute font for labels. Type the week's words once, print three versions for three levels, and your Sunday evening is yours again. Save this list for the next time you sit down with a ruler.
